Artifact 1 - UMSON Application Short Essay Question
The first artifact I would like to share is an excerpt from my application essay to the University of Maryland, School of Nursing. Throughout the application process, we were presented with a range of prompts that required thoughtful and introspective responses. Among those prompts, this particular one resonated with me deeply, capturing my passion and commitment to the field of nursing.
This essay serves as a testament to my unwavering dedication and passion for rectifying disparities and inequalities as a nurse and healthcare provider. It showcases my firm belief that every individual, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserves equal access to high-quality healthcare services. In my response, I delved deep into the root causes of healthcare disparities and highlighted the challenges faced by marginalized communities. I discussed the injustices that arise from the lack of appropriate care due to documentation issues, language barriers, and institutional racism. By acknowledging these issues, I aimed to shed light on the urgent need for change within the healthcare system. Furthermore, I articulated my understanding of the transformative role that nurses can play in promoting social justice and health equity. Artifact 2 - Microbiology Research Box Assignment:
The artifact I am presenting is a noteworthy accomplishment, which showcases my expertise and commitment to the field of microbiology. It is a research box assignment, which I completed during my enrollment in BSCI223, a challenging and time-consuming course that delved deeply into the complexities of microbiology. Despite the rigor of the course, I was able to excel and receive an A+ for my efforts, a testament to my dedication and hard work. This accomplishment was not an easy feat, as it required me to attend lab sessions multiple times a week, where I conducted numerous experiments and gained hands-on experience in microbiology.
The research box assignment was particularly demanding, and I completed it in collaboration with my lab partner. Together, we analyzed and interpreted an experiment, utilizing our advanced knowledge of microbiology to recreate and identify its various components. Our meticulous attention to detail and scientific acumen enabled us to present an outstanding research box assignment that earned us an A grade.
