The objective of this project is to create a freezer for the transportation of HIV medication that can produce 100 kg of ice in a 12-hour time span in Swaziland Africa using an evaporator, compressor, condenser, and throttle valve. The group needed to derive equations for each thermodynamic process and create a simulation using the Engineering Equation Solver (EES) program. The engineers then needed to test different refrigerants and decide on a refrigerant that is efficient, environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and available in the decided country. The EES simulation should calculate numerical values for each process as well as the total cost of the system.
