As an intern at Voices for a Second Chance (VSC), I had the incredible opportunity to engage in several community outreach activities aimed at supporting individuals impacted by the criminal justice system. I had the honor to be able to work alongside a passionate team and contribute to initiative that directly impacted people's lives, helping them navigate their reintegration into society.
From organizing educational events to creating outreach materials, each task gave me a deeper understanding of the importance of advocacy and the power of community support. I was able to witness firsthand how outreach can foster second chances; even being able to reach out directly to people that are serving their time in D.C. Jail and showing them that VSC and several other community organizations are there to support them.
