I was part of a project to bring Cerner's eCoach tool to Nursing Services. eCoach is a means for staff to receive "just in time" training without having to navigate away from PowerChart. My role in this was to learn the web-based eCoach development tool, develop the new help page where information would be housed, and work with Information Services to allow nursing staff to view the tool within PowerChart and be able to get the website white-listed so staff could utilize it properly.
A major aspect of this project was the relocation of training materials to a new repository. In order to accomplish this, the clinical informatics and nursing informatics education teams worked together to design a template for training tools to be displayed. My role in this project was participation in the design, build, and creation of the template, specifically adding search macros to the user interface and designing the Nursing-specific page. I presented three demo pages to the Nursing Informatics Council for their input on the final product design, after which I built content for the initial phase of the eCoach go-live date for nursing services. I also trained the nursing informatics education team to build content for the repository. Currently, we are in progress of developing content for Surginet and FirstNet, which targets nursing staff in perioperative and emergency services, respectively.
