Dying Isles is a board game played with 2-4 players, typically taking 20-40 minutes per play. Dying Isles is set in a hostile realm of floating islands doomed to decay and fall into the void. Players must expand the islands, collect Resources, and unlock powerful abilities known as Triumphs to survive. At the center of the Isles is Paradise, free of decay and coveted by every faction. Reaping the benefits of bountiful islands before they fall away, trapping your opponents with unfavorable lands, and occupying Paradise are all key to earning Triumphs. Owning every Triumph ends the game.
Each round, players take turns drafting tiles to place on a playing field, and then they move around on those tiles. The tiles each have unique effects, ranging from gaining Resources to forcefully moving players. Each turn, players roll a dice to determine which of the nearby tiles will activate. After a tile's effect has been triggered a certain amount of times, the tile is removed from the board. This creates a hectic cycle of tiles being added and removed every turn.
The game's rules, rulebook, and tile layouts were created by myself, while the art was created by Allen Cunningham.
