These two infographics were created for UMD’s Writing for Health Profession’s course. The assignment was to create two infographics about a health-related topic of our choice. At this point in the course, we had already written a research review article (also included in my ePortfolio) on our chosen topics, so these infographics should have been based on the same information. The infographics were each targeted to a different audience, and the information included relied on who the target audience was. It was important to be selective and only include information that was relevant to the rhetorical situation. After the two infographics were created, the assignment required a short essay that discussed certain design choices and how they were meant appeal to their respective audiences.

This assignment was an exercise in creativity as well as rhetorical awareness. Every detail, from the graphic design elements to the tone of the writing was catered to educate the audience. It was challenging to narrow down all the information that I had collected over the course of researching the topic for the review article. I was able to practice writing concisely, and determining the relevant information based on the rhetorical situation.
