Imaginations Competition:
The project challenge was to choose an abandoned city, or “ghost town,” and revitalize it by creating a themed experience, taking into consideration its historical values and tradition of the original and surrounding areas.

Project Description:
Detroit, Michigan was once the symbol of American industrialization and the automotive industry. The Plymouth Road Office Complex housed an appliance company in the 1920s and after the 1940s, headquartered car manufacturers until the early 2000s. It played a significant role in the automotive boom of Detroit and has since been scrapped, becoming vacant and dilapidated.
Now, the space is transformed into Recro, an interactive and immersive museum. Recro means “to recreate, restore, revive” in Latin, and represents the vision of the museum. Factory and office spaces would be renovated to look like they once did, and there would be state-of-the-art technology in each room that would transport guests to the fascinating and trailblazing times of the 20th century. The museum offers fun, educational experiences where guests can learn about the cultural and technological revolutions of the time. Finally, in the Research and Development Makerspace, guests can use creativity and technology to make their own creations.
