For this assignment, I visited and observed a special education classroom and was able to identify the features that characterize the classroom as a safe and supportive physical classroom environment. This assignment had five guiding principles: Uncluttered and Focused, Flexible and Adaptive, Warm and Calm, Supportive and Caring, and Community Oriented. Additionally, this assignment demonstrates mastery of CLO 2, how to apply information from collaboratively developed individualized health plans (IHP) to support a safe environment including students with orthopedic impairment who may have a co-existing health impairment and or intellectual disability, to address the movement, mobility, sensory and or health care needs ensuring barrier free space, adequate storage and operation of medical equipment and other mobility sensory accommodations.
