This project was done at City College of San Francisco.
In the design of this device human power was prohibited. Therefore, laws of physics were used on the design of this project. Using gravity as our main source of power for the marble to roll our of the machine at a calculated certain distance accounting with friction through the channels as the marble exits the machine and the floor when in contact. Several measurements were collected to obtain optimal estimates of the distance travel by the marble as it is place higher on the shooter, using physics as the higher an object is drop from, the more potential energy is transfer into kinetic energy allowing more displacement for the marble.
The goal of the competition was to shoot marbles against other competitors and whoever knocks out as more opponent's marbles as possible leaving only his own inside the circle will be the winner of the competition. Accounting for accuracy, low cost design, and consistency.
