Over the Summer 2019 term, I worked with Prof. Russ Westphal of the Mechanical Engineering Department to design and assemble two Schleiren imaging systems: a classic "Z" and a single-mirror "V". Images were captured of a candle's thermal plume and a high-speed air jet. Currently, I am working on modeling and 3-D printing a converging-diverging nozzle with the hope to capture images and video footage of shock waves with the "V" Schlieren system.
