Design & Analysis of Inpipe Gorlov Helical Turbine

Led a project that aims at designing an efficient Gorlov design turbine inside a pipe for power generations. The tools used for this project are SolidWorks (Computer Aided Design software) and Simscale (A cloud computing simulation platform). Paying more heed towards the design parameters of airfoil, blade angle, width of blades and material, certain design alterations were made on the Gorlov design to attain maximum rotation speed and hence considerable power is generated for a small scale micro-hydropower system. It was observed that a Gorlov Spherical Helical Turbine is most efficient with a 4-blade geometry using the NACA 0020 hydrofoil. Material recommendations and overview provided for those who was to develop prototype of the said design.
