For this Smart Bathroom project, the Arduino will be connected with and RFID Reader/Writer Shield. The UID of a RFID tag will be read and trigger a set of code that will be executed by the Arduino. This will be further extended by the addition of an LCD to display access messages; a piezo to play a specific tone when a tag is scanned; and an RGB LED to display green or red when access is granted or denied.
The Arduino will be used to control when a 120VAC appliance turns on and off inside the bathroom. My own GFCI outlet will be assembled which will be connected to a relay. This outlet will be powered through 120VAC from the wall. The relay will either allow or cutoff current flow from the wall to my outlet, powering any appliance connected to my outlet. A 12VDC power adapter will also be connected to a second relay module to supply power to the electric door strike to control when to lock or unlock the door.
Additional features of this Smart Bathroom includes, but not limited to, a Raspberry Pi Media as a source of entertainment, as well as a servo-controlled bathroom seat that will opened with a potentiometer.
