Class Description

Learning what goes into creating comics and good sequential storytelling involves understanding artistic disciplines from illustration to graphic design. Every week in this class we will be concentrating on a different concept or discipline that is involved in making comics. Topics will include figure drawing, perspective, composition, inking, different types of panel to panel storytelling, how timing is handled in comics, even costume and character design.

About the Instructor
Steven Walker is a freelance artist with a B.F.A. degree in comics illustration from the School of Visual Arts. Mr. Walker has an eclectic portfolio of work and has published with companies such as Image Comics. He cites creators Walt Simonson and Jamal Igle as influences. He has also published graphic novels with Random House, most notably The Sons of Liberty (volumes 1 and 2) and The Battle of Blood and Ink for Tor Books. When not pushing lead at his drawing table, he can be found voraciously scribbling voluptuous burlesque models at Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School, of which he is a founding member. http://www.stevejwalkerstudio.blogspot.com
