My group's final research project in Introduction to Information Science studied the relationship between a growing sector of technology: Cloud computing and its affect on environmental sustainability. I created this artifact to showcase our overview into modern technology infrastructure and how cloud computing could offer possible solutions to environmental issues. This paper examines the social, political and environmental impacts from cloud computing. This research represents my ability to integrate information from different perspectives to address a modern challenge that could be used to utilize new technology to solve concerns.

This artifact showcases the ability to conduct research that connects modern IT advancements with recent societal concerns such as the environment. Additionally, our paper shows my understanding of how cloud computing and virtualizations work and have evolved over time. It shows my ability to recognize both the benefits and downsides of IT solutions to modern challenges as cloud computing could reduce energy consumption by resource optimization however it increases energy demands from data centers. Furthermore, through this I have demonstrated critical thinking skills by studying how the IT industry could leverage from cloud computing to address environmental challenges and still meet demands.
