The purpose of the “Chemical bonding brochure” was to help students understand different types of chemical bonds and how they work. This project was completed 2nd semester. I received an A on this project. The project was to create a brochure that include information and explanation on Ionic, covalent, metallic bonds. We also had to include information on valence electrons and periodic trends that affect the reaction that occurs in these bonds.
An I-CLEAR strategy I used was linking. I used linking because I had to connect my chemistry class to math class. I had to calculate how many valence electrons an element had in order to make sure that it can fully complete a bond. Math plays a crucial part in chemistry. Although the math used for this project was basic math, this project could have not been completed without the use of simple math skills such as addition and multiplication.
Another I-CLEAR skill I used was research. By using research I research the different types of bonds that was required to be included in my project. Although our teacher had taught us the necessary information in class there were still many things that required further research into to complete the project. I used websites such as google and even the dictionary in order to obtain definitions for the different types of bonds. Using the internet and my textbook I also found various examples to use in my project.
One last I-CLEAR I used was application. After researching and calculating the information I required to complete the project, I needed to create the project. The format that was required was a brochure. I used application to help me understand how I should format the brochure and what information from my research and calculation should be used and emphasized in the brochure. I applied the skills of math and English into my chemistry brochure by using the skill of application.
