This long-form zine serves as both my creative and research capstone, utilizing a variety of poetic and prose forms to ruminate on asexual community politics, creative production, and ace feminisms. A collection of interlinked essays, “DO YOU LIKE SEX?” And Other Asexual Questions reflects both the bibliographic research I have conducted into asexuality studies and the creative interplay between form and content which I’ve explored in my time in Writing & Literature. Inspired by the structure of Theresa Hak Kyung Cha’s Dictée and the style of Gloria Anzaldúa’s Borderlands/La Frontera, I court academic discourses of citation while exploring the potentials of Luce Irigaray’s concept of polyvocal parler femme writing as described by Katharine Haake.
The zine is designed for print at size 8.5” x 5.5”, modeled after Claudia Rankine’s Citizen. For the intended reading of this zine, please download the PDF and use two-page viewing with the first page of the document as the first internal page of the zine. Most spreads take this view into consideration, and some may be confusing to read in page-by-page format. The cover, which was produced separately, is attached as separate PNG files.
