I served as a Curatorial & Collections Intern at the Miami University Art Museum in Spring 2020. As part of my internship, I had the opportunity to assist head curator Jason Shaiman with planning an exhibition based on Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada’s collection of newspaper prints that was to be on display Fall 2020.
I learned the importance of in-depth research in regards to art history, and personally worked on primary research, transcriptions, and writing object labels. I also explored exhibition design in regards to composition, physical layout, and supporting colors to highlight pieces. Overall, project involved intensive attention to detail with understanding concepts portrayed in broadsides, and how to translate Spanish thematic content for audience to acknowledge in exhibition.
