The goal of this project was to design a bracket that was to withstand a vertical load of 250lbs while minimizing weight and maximizing strength and stiffness. This design was 3D printed with PLA plastic and tested. I worked with two other group members to come up with three designs which we narrowed down to the final one shown in the pictures here. Hand calculations were done for all three designs to get an idea of the stresses, deflection and stability. FEA analysis using SolidWorks was also performed, the results of which can also be seen here.
