The Boxers & Saints lesson plan was a collaborative assignment for my ENG 655 class, Literature and the Adolescent Reader. For this assignment students formed into groups and chose to design a lesson plan for a novel that they chose from the course curriculum. Within this assignment two of my classmates and I were able to create a lesson plan that expressed Theater of the Oppressed (TO) and demonstrated a pedagogical teaching style. Not only did this assignment help me design a lesson plan, but it also created a great dynamic and viewpoint of positive group work. I generally learned that through different styles of teaching curriculum can still be achieved; however, it can be engaged in different forms (i.e. drama/acting). The idea behind the lesson plan was to create a interactive dynamic between student and "teacher" so that there was a form of independence and self-learning present within the classroom.
