Industry collaboration with Bombardier Transportation and Structural and Multi-disciplinary Design Group (SMSD) to re-design system-critical mechanical assembly of King Abdullah monorail using structural topology optimization. Subject to VM stress, natural frequency, and fatigue constraints.

Reduced weight by over 50% while achieving lower compliance than the baseline design; reducing complex assembly of 7 individual parts to a single part with minimal fasteners.

This study was instrumental in influencing future design considerations for BT monorails.
