Project Description:
Design and manufacture a smart object for parents

Process:
In the second semester of my freshman year, I worked with a project group to come up with a smart device for parents. We learned basic C-language coding throughout the semester and built off of some CAD solid works knowledge to make a product. The process started with interviewing our focus customers. We talked to four different parents of toddler-age children and discovered what their requests for a smart device might be. From that information, we brainstormed and landed on one device, the Baby No Go, which is outlined here. This device has an alarm that lets the parents know when their child has gone somewhere they don't want their child going. It uses two PIR motion sensors to detect whether a child or parent has passed by, and sets off the alarm accordingly. A more detailed description of the process and device are added here.
