Design of Push Pointing Machine for pipe using DFM
• Researched on the disadvantages of traditional processes like hammer swaging in pointing of pipes.
• Established a new method known as Push Pointing. This new method had automatized mechanism for loading and unloading of pipes.
• The pipes were pointed using step reduction die which was operated by hydraulic mechanism. The prototype was designed on SolidWorks
• Applied the principles of Design for Manufacturability (DFMEA & Design for Assembly) to improve the design efficiency of the assembly by 30%
• So, basically it centered on satisfying customer needs such as fast pre-processing time, low cost, very less labor using DFM principles
