In this activity, my partner and I were tasked to analyze an axial fan and piping system for volumetric flow rates of 2000 cfm to 6000 cfm. I learned more about how to construct fan curves and system curves for a given laboratory set up given only manufacturer data. We encountered challenges when finding the major losses for the galvanized steel spiral pipe since the value depends on the volumetric flow rate, diameter, and came in non-standard units. In the second document, we collected experimental data and compared the calculated volumetric flow rates to the theoretical flow rates found in the first document. Please see the attached documents for the operating points for the various fan and system curves as well as the comparison to the experimental results.
