This project was conducted in November of 2018 to determine if there is a relationship between state open carry gun laws and the occurrence of mass shootings in the United States between January of 2017 and November of 2018. GIS mapping and analysis were used to interpret spatial data. Although the overwhelming majority of deaths by mass shootings occurred in states that have less restrictive state gun laws, no other factors were considered in regards to societal, racial, or religious factors and their impact on the incidents.
