Standards of practice are vital to the health care system, they serve as guidelines for providing and evaluating nursing care (Human health and function 7th ed., p. 9). The ANA supports the nursing practice by improving patient care, patient safety, and enhance nursing care communication to other nurses and healthcare professionals. Furthermore, a care map helps provide direction, continuity as well as establishing communication between the nurse, patient, and other health care colleagues. Through completing this project I was further exposed to the standardized language and methods used for documenting and completing care maps using NANDA nursing diagnosis.
