Our research explores the effects of black racial identity (private regard) as a moderator of the relationship between alcohol use and sexual risk behavior among African American young adults. The aim of this study was to gain a better understanding of the role of racial identity as a factor that may prevent sexual risk behavior. We provide our results and discussion on the interrelationship between alcohol use, black racial identity, and sexual risk behavior.

This project helped me further develop career competency it has taught me to utilize datasets, literature, etc. to represent diverse cultures, races, genders, religions, and viewpoints to this final research project. I also learned to leverage the strengths of teammates to achieve common goals, and use interpersonal skills to coach and develop others. Finally, I was able to drive this research project to completion successfully and communicate the results to a broad audience. These skills will help me in my future career.
