This group airline simulation project was part of the Aviation Business Strategies unit at Swinburne University of Technology. As a group, we managed a start-up airline over a financial period of two years, competing with other start-up airlines managed by our fellow students. My role was head of route planning and fare structures, in which I created the airline route structure according to range capabilities for our fleet of Boeing 737 and 767 aircraft. In addition, I was also responsible for determining fare structures for economy and business class tickets, modifying them based on analysis of competitor’s ticket prices. We created a business plan at the start of our project and presented our overall performance at the end of the period. This was complemented with a business activity report which provided in-depth analysis of our choices in operating the airline.
