In a team of four members, we designed a transportable support arm base for a heavy air impact wrench. The goal was for it to be automatically deploy-able for operation and easy to re-condense into it's portable form without the need for electrical systems such as motors.

Over the course of the project I performed the following tasks with my design group:
1) Researched the design problem as well as products on the market that addressed similar problems.

2) Collaborated with team members to develop a suitable design using Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method.

3) Designed a geometric prototype using CAD software (Solidworks) paying attention to component kinematics.

4) Created a bill of materials.

5) Performed stress analysis calculations on components (aluminum supports, steel base links, springs, and bolts) using Solidworks FEA and Microsoft Excel to ensure functionality and justify design decisions.
