The goal of this project is to minimize overhaul costs incurred during shop-visits for Pratt and Whitney, a local jet engine manufacturer. Most of the company’s revenue comes from maintenance of the engines, so we can increase the profits and probability that customers will still choose our engines when they need to replace them by lowering costs. The object is to build a database where we are able to pull data to compare invoices based on similar characteristics of the engine, the aircraft it is on, the region it is flying in, etc. Through invoice analysis of similar shop visits, Pratt and Whitney can drive better pricing models, leverage shop efficiencies at overhauling specific parts/modules, and find parts that are most valuable to have engineering work to improve in durability or in repair practices.
