How to add a new project:
Step 1: You can add a new project in a few different ways - either by clicking “New Project” in the top right, or by going to a specific experience and clicking the plus mark.
Step 2: A box on the left side of the screen opens. This allows you to either attach an existing project to an experience, or create a brand new project.
Step 3: When you click “add new project” it opens the editor. Start by adding a project title and uploading your project attachments. The project title is important because this is what will be displayed on your profile. The attachments are incredibly important because this is the actual evidence and proof of your work. You can upload various file types including video files, photos, written papers, PDF files, etc. so any type of experience can be showcased. You can add up to 100 files to a project.
Step 4: Once you’re done uploading your project files, scroll down and select a category. Categories are important because they help employers, instructors and peers find your work. Check out the Discover page to find other amazing work and see how categories help organize projects.
Step 5: Now it’s time to describe your project. You want to be as descriptive as possible. This is your opportunity to explain your project from start to finish so employers, instructors or peers can understand everything you learned. Helping others understand things like the inspiration for your project, what you learned, what the outcomes were all make your project stand out. This also allows you an opportunity to document and reflect on this experience so you can look back and articulate it in future conversations or job interviews.
Step 6: Time to tag some skills! This is incredibly important because these skills are how potential employers search for candidates. Portfolium supports competency-based learning, and the skills you tag to a project help you articulate what you learned and use it for your future.
Step 7: You can also add teammates and hashtags to your project. If you worked on a group project, you can tag your teammates so they have the ability to add this project to their profile as well if they would like to. Hashtags work similarly to other platforms you’re already familiar with like LinkedIn and Instagram. They can be searched for on the Discover page and help you find other students amazing work and inspiration.
Step 8: If you want to adjust the privacy settings for this project, click the gear in the top bar. You can also click Preview and see what this project will look like on your profile to ensure everything is being displayed how you want.
Step 9: Once you’re done adding information to your project, click the Publish button in the top right corner. The small box that opens up confirms the privacy settings you selected and allows you to share your project to another platform like Twitter or Instagram.
