In this famous painting “The Great Wave off Kanagawa,” Hokusai uses movement, contrast, and rhythm. The big wave crashing down represents movement because when you look at the painting you see how the wave is moving to the right and crashing down. When one looks at the painting they see the way all the waves are starting from all over to create big waves, this shows rhythm. Contrast is show in this painting by all the different colors of the waves and boats. This painting shows movement the most because of the general shape the waves and boats are moving in.
