Developed a self-replicating, personal 3D printer from concept to completion. The challenges I faced in building my first purchased 3D printer kit inspired me to design my own 3D printer that was easy to assemble with easy to follow instructions. Additionally, I wanted to incorporate the maximum number of printed parts, thus enabling self replication. Since developing the first 3DPrintMi, I’ve continued to improve the design to simplify and reduce costs.
Project Highlights:
• Developed project outline to meet design requirements crafted for self-replication (RepRap)
• Evaluated existing 3D printer platforms and systems for validation
• Designed components, produced drawings and assemblies using Solidworks, from concept to detail design.
• Built prototypes of printer components and mechanisms to optimize performance and functionality
• Generated and managed Bill of Materials
• Created a detailed assembly guide
