This is a robot built for the 2014 F.I.R.S.T. Robotics Competition. It won the 2014 Colorado Regional competition and was a semi-finalist at off-season tournaments. Its goal was to gather, pass, and launch exercise balls toward a target approximately 7 feet tall.

To gather the exercise balls, it utilized a plastic roller powered by a small DC motor mounted on a rectangular aluminum frame that 'embraced' the balls and prevented them from rolling away. It made use of a piston- and spring-powered catapult to launch them. It also utilized a set of PVC expandable 'wings' to catch an exercise ball if another robot passed it through the air. Its drive train included a modified sonic shifter gearbox, which provided strong pushing power when blocked by opponent robots and fast speeds when dashing across the field.

I led the design and build of prototypes to gather and launch the exercise balls. I was also one of the drivers tasked with operating the robot during competition. After every match, I inspected the mechanisms and made repairs and tests to ensure that they were ready to get back on the field.
