While earthquakes happen all around the world, certain regions experience a greater frequency due to their geographic location. This is the case with the Sumatra and Indian Ocean Region who experienced 6 earthquakes exceeding Mw 7.9 in a 7-year span (“Why Sumatra,” n.d.). The most devasting of these was the 2004 earthquake and subsequent tsunami. These presentations explore this disaster.
